Michael with his Fender Stratocaster guitar—the instrument that changed everything.

Michael Tobias David is a guitarist and multi-instrumentalist from Frankfurt, Germany. After completing his studies in classical guitar and Renaissance lute, he turned to his true passion: modern jazz—a genre he played almost exclusively for several decades. A few years ago, his wife gave him a Fender Stratocaster. Having previously played almost exclusively archtop guitars, Michael found that this new instrument opened the door to entirely different musical styles. Today, he is active in the genres of blues rock, smooth jazz, and chill-out music.
In 1981, Michael founded the Michael David guitar school, later renamed the Creative Music School; he handed the school over to a younger generation in 2024.
He continues to run the record label and music publishing company *mydaymusic*, where he produces exclusively his own music.
In addition to the guitar, Michael plays bass, keyboards, the Native American flute, the Japanese shakuhachi, the Indian bansuri, the Australian didgeridoo and the Arabic lute.
